ASL Interpreter Services
Speakr LLC provides American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people in legal, medical, educational and corporate settings, on-site or through video remote interpreting.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, courts, hospitals, schools and many employers must ensure effective communication. We help you meet that obligation with interpreters who have experience in your setting.

Setting-Specific ASL Interpreters, Not Just Available Ones
A courtroom, an emergency room and an IEP meeting each have their own vocabulary and pace. We assign ASL interpreters by setting, not just by availability, and we prioritize nationally certified interpreters. For complex or high-stakes assignments we can arrange interpreter teams, including a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) on request, subject to availability.

Case Example:
ASL Interpretation for Sensitive Family Law Hearings
The same Wisconsin county court returned to Speakr LLC shortly after the Hakha Chin case—this time with an urgent need for ASL interpreters for sensitive family law hearings involving domestic violence and parental rights.
Despite having a general ASL provider, the court struggled to find legal-specialized ASL interpreters trained to navigate complex court dynamics, including trauma-informed communication.
Our response:
We sourced and assigned an ASL interpreter team with experience in courtrooms and family advocacy settings.
Speakr LLC doesn't just fill interpreter seats—we support the dignity and rights of every client in every language.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is responsible for providing an ASL interpreter?
Under the ADA, courts, hospitals, schools, government agencies and many businesses must provide effective communication, which often means a qualified sign language interpreter at no cost to the Deaf person. We work directly with these organizations.
Do you offer video remote ASL interpreting?
Yes. Video remote interpreting (VRI) works well for short appointments and urgent needs. For long, emotional or complex sessions, an on-site interpreter is usually the better choice.
What is a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI)?
A CDI is a Deaf interpreter who works alongside a hearing ASL interpreter. CDIs help when a Deaf person uses non-standard signing, a foreign sign language, or has limited language access. We can arrange CDI teams on request.
Do you provide sign language interpreters near me?
We are based in Chicago and arrange on-site ASL interpreters across the U.S. Where on-site coverage is limited, we offer video remote interpreting.
